According to INE's indicator, 76% of the population considered reported owning a mobile phone in 2024. For an archipelago with dispersed inhabited islands, mobile connectivity has special value: it links households, businesses, public services and communities that depend on fast communication between islands and with the diaspora.
Why it matters
The mobile phone is an entry point for digital services, information, education, transport, transfers, payments and communication with institutions.
